Key Green Solutions Saves Almost $1,000,000 for New Customer

When organizations become customers of Key Green Solutions, they work closely with our implementation team to make sure all vendors and data is accounted for. Last year, Implementation Manager Tim Schuitema did the same for a mid-sized customer and found severe discrepancies in their billing.

Tim stated, “Last November, I was assisting in a Request for Proposal for a mid-sized organization. While compiling a 12-month hazardous waste analysis, our team noticed their spend seemed much higher than what we would normally expect. After investigation into the discrepancy, we found that not only were there errors in the reporting their hazardous waste vendor had provided, but that they were also double billed.“

After the Key Green Solutions team evaluated the 12 months’ worth of invoices line item by line item to find any further latent billing errors, Tim was able to report back to the client with shocking and bad– yet ultimately great– news. “We told the customer what we had found to be multiple alleged billing errors, and they went back to their hazardous waste vendor for clarification. Thank to Key Green Solutions‘ implementation team, our customer was credited over $990,000 for the hazardous waste billing errors.”

Key Green Solutions Assists in Pursuance of State Law Requirements

Key Green Solutions has become familiar with legislation that varies from state to state, and works alongside systems to make sure that guidelines are being followed.

One example of legislation regarding energy utilities is Assembly Bill No. 802, which was filed and approved by California Legislation back in October of 2015. Although this bill set out to clarify the goals for utility vendors to store critical energy utility information, Key Green Solutions has played a large role in maintaining the integrity and interpretation of reporting for many California customers. While the legislation addressed vendor storage of data, Key Green Solutions offers real-time usage for this data in one central platform where customers can review, check, and report in clear and concise tables and visual graphics. Rather than manually relaying information from many sources, customers can log in, view condensed data for date ranges selected, and export information as needed—all while having the ability to refer to a personal coordinator for assistance.

Government compliance often becomes more difficult as buildings and square footages become larger, but with Key Green Solutions compliance reporting becomes much easier. Our staff not only takes care of data submission for award applications, but also supports data entry for tools such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, which is a tool that has been mandated by many states. While reserving the ability to report information on their own through personal access to Key Green Solutions, customers can also choose to sit back and wait for data to come from or be populated by their Key Green Solutions team directly into the source.

Key Green Solutions Supports Local Water Cleanup

In Grand Rapids, Michigan, there is an annual water cleanup for the Grand River. The West Michigan Environmental Action Council spoke a few days ago on the importance of civilians stepping up and helping to remove the trash and pollution, especially as life has become so virtually- driven and busy (https://grbj.com/news/sustainability/wmeac-to-host-weeklong-mayors-grand-river-cleanup/¬).

The WMEAC has extended this challenge of grouping together during a time of solitude and uncertainty to citizens, and Key Green Solutions is happy to answer the call by helping to sponsor the 17th annual Mayors’ Grand River Cleanup. It is more important than ever to push on towards sustainability, and we hope to be leaders in our community stepping towards a better future. We are inspired by our customers, the leaders in healthcare for environmentally forward initiatives, and look for opportunities to support community health in any way we can. We encourage all to come together and help make a difference, whether that difference be on a large scale in the healthcare setting, or at a local community water cleanup effort.

Practice Greenhealth: Another Successful Application Season

Another season of Practice Greenhealth award applications has come to a close, and our team is looking forward to seeing our customers’ results!

Every year Key Green Solutions supports their customers applying to Practice Greenhealth by populating their application with data pulled directly out of Key Green Solution’s software application, and this data is then QC’d by the healthcare system’s personal Key Green Solutions Relationship Coordinator. This year we automatically uploaded data into the Practice Greenhealth Partner for Change Award application for 49 hospitals. We sorted through 1.5 million data records and answered around 4,000 questions; for us this takes about 5 minutes per location, all because of one word: automation.

Our automatic process saves the healthcare system time and money; there is no longer a need to scramble through endless excel sheets to find the data, and our customers can leave all the work up to Key Green Solutions. Last week our team of technicians upgraded our production severs, taking our user experience to a new level. The new servers take advantage of virtualization; our main server and mobile server are now virtual machines that allow us to move seamlessly to new hardware in the future. We now have the capability to move to our backup server in a very short amount of time if hardware problems arise. Our database server was upgraded to new hardware and faster drives to handle increased activity and volume of clients and customers.

With our new servers and operating system on the database– combined with the migration of the web servers to virtual containers– Key Green Solutions is poised for long-term operation with simplified future upgrades and larger volumes of data processing. Our customers will be experiencing a faster, more robust environment as they run complex reports!

We work closely with Stericycle IWSS staff to create “pull reports” that help with their sustainability reporting, and we are able to provide benchmarking. We also can include any fees you pay in your monthly cost reporting. We help make reporting more comprehensive, and can improve upon any programs you wish to strengthen.
